Law Enforcement or other Authorities – We will share Personal Data with law enforcement or other authorities if required by applicable law.

Whether information has to be provided by you, and if so why

We require you to provide Personal Data such as your (full name, address, telephone number or email address etc) to enable us to assist you effectively in the use of our Website for the provision of any service required from us. We will inform you at the point of collecting information from you, whether you are required to provide the information to us.

The impact of our use of your Personal Data

Transfer of your information out of Ghana

We will normally process your Personal Data within Ghana. Notwithstanding this, the nature of our business may involve that your Personal Data may occasionally be disclosed to non- Ghanaian entities by means of a data transfer agreement between us and these entities.

We may also use some third-party suppliers to help us provide our business services to our clients/customers. These third parties may have access to or merely host your Personal Data, but will always do so under our instructions and subject to a contractual relationship.

Location Data Collection and Usage

Types of Location Data Collected

  • We may collect precise (e.g., GPS) or approximate (e.g., network-based) location data when you use our app. The type of location data collected depends on the permissions you grant and the specific features you use.

Purpose of Location Data Collection

  • Location data is collected to provide the following feature or service: Enabling carpooling services
  • We only collect location data when it is necessary to deliver these features and services. Once the required feature or service is completed, we will cease accessing location data.

Background Location Access

  • Our app may access your location in the background only if it is essential to the core functionality of the app and beneficial to you as the user. For example: Tracking carpool route for accurate ETA.

Minimal Scope

  • We request the minimum necessary location permissions to provide the features and services you expect. For instance, we may request coarse location instead of fine location or foreground location access instead of background location access where possible.

No Use of Location Data for Advertising or Analytics

  • We do not request location permissions from users solely for advertising or analytics purposes. Location data collected through our app is not used to serve ads or analyze user behavior beyond what is necessary for the core functionality of the app.

Cookies and other tracking technologies

We do not use cookies from our Website. We may, however, use your IP address to administer our Website.

In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Where there are reasonable grounds to believe that your data has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized person, we shall notify you of the unauthorized access or acquisition.

Your rights

Act 843 spells out your rights for the use of your Personal Data by us. In summary, these include rights to:

  • be informed of the processing of your Personal Data by us or another person acting on our behalf;
  • be informed about the purpose for which the Personal Data is being requested to be processed by us;
  • be informed of the recipient or class of recipients to whom the data may be disclosed;
  • fair processing of information and transparency over how we use your use Personal Data;
  • access to your Personal Data and to certain other supplementary information that this Policy is already designed to address;
  • require us to correct any mistakes in your information which we hold;
  • require the erasure of Personal Data concerning you in certain situations;
  • receive the Personal Data concerning you which you have provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit those data to a third party in certain situations;
  • object at any time to processing of Personal Data concerning you for direct marketing;
  • object to decisions being taken by automated means which produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affect you;
  • object in certain other situations to our continued processing of your Personal Data;
  • otherwise restrict our processing of your Personal Data in certain circumstances.

Keeping your Personal Data secure

We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent Personal Data from being accidentally lost, or used or accessed in an unauthorized way. We limit access to your Personal Data to those who have a genuine business need to know it. Those processing your information will do so only in an authorized manner and are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. We will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach where we are legally required to do so.

Act 843 also gives you the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of any alleged infringements.
